Willie “Bill” Floyd Howard passed away at his home in Landrum, SC on Thursday, September 8th, 2022 at the age of 64. He was born in Lima, OH on May 18, 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Howard of Landrum, his mother, Shirley Howard of Lima, Ohio, and siblings Lloyd (Joan) Howard of Campobello, Ruthie Robinson of West Ashley, Ruby (Howard) Clark of Lima, and Pam (Dave) Neidhardt of Lima. He is also survived by his children, Rodney Howard of Wadsworth, Ohio, Thomas (Emily) Howard of Inman, Jacob Howard of Landrum, and Kayla Hines of Duncan, and grandchildren, Keira Howard, Kimberlee Hines, Kenna Howard, Klarke Howard, Remy Hines, and Parker Howard. He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Howard and H. Robinson.
Bill was a nurturer of everything, from his children and dogs to the hummingbirds that frequented the multiple feeders near his garden, as well as the hobbies that garnered him friendships that spanned the country. He was a devoted youth sports coach, playing an integral role in the lives of countless young football, baseball, and softball players, and was a fixture at the local Landrum Youth Association. He never met a stranger; if someone was in need, regardless of how well he knew them, Bill was there to provide food, a place to sleep, and endless support without giving any of it a second thought. Altruism was as much a part of him as his love for music and muscle cars.
In more recent years, you could find him sitting outside enjoying a cup of coffee, chatting with Deb and his friends while running a hand over one of his beloved dogs, Marlee and Buddy. He loved fishing with his sons and spending time with his grandchildren.
The family will be holding a celebration of life at 205 E Earle Street, Landrum, SC 29356, on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The family respectfully requests, in lieu of flowers that donations be made to your local youth organization or a charity of your choosing.
