On September 16, 2022 in Greer, South Carolina, Willie Jean Hancock passed away from natural causes. She was born November 7, 1943 in Pansey (Houston County), Alabama. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marida Estelle (Stewart) Hancock, her father, Willie Raymond Hancock, her brothers, Wayne and Larry Hancock and her sister, Kathleen Hancock.
She is survived by her children Kerri (Grimes) Smith (A.J.), William Grimes (Shayne), Cynthia (Grimes) Morse (Deryl) and Michael Sandoval (Renee) as well as her grandchildren Drew Smith (Heather), Michael Barnes (Jacqie), Matthew Barnes (Brittany), Morgan Sandoval, Miranda Sandoval, CJ Grimes and Sam Grimes and her great grandchildren Shaylyn Barnes, Jackson Smith, Julianne Smith, Jannali Banks, Kal Banks, Robin Banks, Sophia Barnes and Sterling Barnes.
Willie accomplished a great deal during her life as a military wife, seamstress, real estate broker and bookkeeper but her greatest joy in life was raising her children. She loved to laugh, dance and roller skate. She was always very creative whether it was painting, Halloween costumes, Christmas decorations or her girl’s wedding dresses. She was always up for a challenge and at age 53, she took up Jujitsu in which she achieved a brown belt.
Her Celebration of Life will be March 4, 2023, in Panama City Beach, Florida.
