William "Wop" Whelan, 81, of Anderson South Carolina, passed away Monday, March 18th.
He was born Jan. 11, 1938 in Jersey City, NJ. William married his beloved soulmate, Janice P. Smith in 1984, and they resided in Anderson, SC before he passed.
William, a.k.a. "Cowboy", was a lifelong Auto Mechanic until he retired in 1994. He also served his country and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Donald Whelan and his older brother, Charles Whelan, both of Pensacola, FL.
He loved to joke, meet new people, travel, fish and spend time with his family.
William is survived by his beloved wife Janice Whelan of Anderson SC, his sister Barbara Borelli of Bethlehem PA, his cousin Judy Guyer of Kissimmee FL, his son Ted W. Owen Jr of Myrtle Beach SC, and four grandchildren: Tyson Owen, Tyler Owen, Chrysta Owen, and Makayla Owen, 2 Sister-in-laws, 3 Brother-in-laws, and his nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Bethany World Outreach, 490 Laurel Street, Honea Path, SC on Saturday, April 6th at 2 p.m.
