William Christopher (Chris) Roberts of Greenville, SC, passed into peace on May 27, 2016. He found great comfort in having his son William Spencer Roberts, daughter Margaret Grey Roberts, and fiancé Veronica Riquelme by his side through his final days and hours.
A Richmond native, Chris was born on August 9, 1959 to William Edward Roberts and Suzanne Perry Culler, both of whom predeceased their eldest son. In addition to his children, he is survived by his brother Edward Brooke Roberts and sister Perry Anne Roberts LeGaux.
His journey took him from Richmond to Greenville in recent years, where he shared a home with Ms. Riquelme and their faithful, four-legged companions Sanchito and Anabella.
Chris took immense satisfaction in his work as an addiction counselor at the Southwest Carolina Treatment Center in Anderson, SC, where he was well-respected and wholeheartedly loved by his co-workers and patients. His family appreciates the incredible support the entire SCTC community showed Chris during his illness.
His children ask that family and friends celebrate his life by partaking in one of the simple pleasures Chris enjoyed so much. Read a book, do a crossword puzzle, play the guitar. Show your unwavering support for something you love, like Chris always did—with great enthusiasm—for the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Eagles and VCU Rams. And if you need to escape for a moment, go fishing.
We will remember Chris always for his wit, indelible charisma, and most importantly, his deep compassion for those struggling with addiction and mental illness.
Final arrangements are by the South Carolina Cremation Society—Westville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to an addiction treatment or mental health facility in your community.
