William LeRoy Reitz, lovingly known as Bill, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on January 10, 2025, after a life richly lived. Born on April 5, 1927, in Brady Township, Clearfield County, PA, Bill was a man marked by his courage, generosity, and remarkable handiwork, touching the lives of many.
During his youth, Bill's profound sense of duty led him to enlist in the Navy in 1945, where he served with honor as a World War II veteran. His tenacity and drive continued post-service when, in 1950, he enrolled in a program through the VA to become skilled in both letterpress and offset printing. Bill was dedicated to the printing industry until 1989; when he retired. Besides his professional endeavors, Bill was a devoted American Legion Post #77 member in Hendersonville, NC, and Post #1322 in N. Tonawanda, NY.
Those who knew Bill will fondly remember his love for the outdoors. A proud and hardworking man, he found great joy in golf, deer hunting, fishing, boating, and tackling home projects. His hands were rarely still, for Bill was a true embodiment of the spirit of self-reliance and resourcefulness.
Family was Bill's treasured compass throughout his remarkable 97 years. He is survived by his daughter Claudia Hager and her husband Larry; his son "Chip"; his sister Jeanne Hunt of Nebraska; and he is reunited in rest with his beloved wife, June (Ace) Reitz, as well as his parents, August and Tessie (Boaz) Reitz, and siblings, Madeline Pletcher, George, and Meryle Reitz. Bill was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, each of whom will carry a part of his legacy forward.
William "Bill" Reitz's life was defined by his unwavering courage, helpful spirit, and boundless generosity. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven through the lives he touched and the community he held dear. His story will be remembered and told by generations to cherish the remarkable man that he was.
