William B Morris “Bill”, 82, passed away June 25th 2023 at home with his family by his side in Piedmont, South Carolina. He had been able to celebrate his birthday with family the day before. Bill, or Papa, as he was lovingly referred to by most all his family, was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to William Stanley Morris, a farmer and Inez Aline Currie, a housewife on June 24th, 1941.
He left school to help his family out on the farm. Bill was a Jack of all Trades throughout his life. He delivered milk and chickens, luckily not at the same time. He was the manager of a Bowling Alley. He spent years with Collins Entertainment based out of Greenville, SC working as the owners right hand man. He separated, packaged and helped deliver anything from nuts, bolts, washers and fittings when he worked for Boss Bolt and Tool, originally called Fasteners, whom he retired with in 2018.
He married his wife, Rita, on January 7th 1970 in Greenville, SC. They had one daughter together and two sons from his previous marriage.
Bill was a member of Shriners in Greenville. He loved being outdoors and doing anything from gardening to cutting down trees or simply sitting on the front porch. He loved to read his Bible outside and had finished reading it through for the 8th time. He started on the 9th time when he became sick. Bill was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church.
Bill was selfless; he would give anyone the shirt off his back if needed. He was always there for his family. He was just and wise. He was who you would call when you needed help in any situation or even for directions. He could fix every problem thrown at him by prayer, being methodical and patient. He loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his great great grandchild. He enjoyed every moment he could get to visit and celebrate special occasions.
Bill is survived in death by his wife, Rita; his sisters Sue and Pat (Larry) and his brother Steve (Yogi), his three children, countless grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother RC, his sister Nelda (Gene), a niece, nephew and a great grandson.
Bills Celebration of Life will be held July 29th at 1PM at Mountain Springs Baptist Church in Piedmont, SC. No funeral reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to Bill’s wife, Rita, to help cover funeral expenses.
