Doug was the son of the late John William Mizell and Minnie Lee Kilpatrick. He was a cherished brother to Delilah Mitchell (Richard Tischer) and Sharon Nelson (Steve). Doug was previously married to Ann Marie Mizell. He was blessed with three sons: William Douglas Mizell, Jr. (Tia), Christopher Mizell (Tuyet Nguyen), John Derek Mizell (Angela). Doug was a proud grandfather to Brittany, Alejandro, and Mirrah Mizell, and great-grandfather to Leah Ford. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.

Doug was a man of many talents and interests. He held an Associate Degree and had a diverse career that reflected his varied skills and passions. He served his country with honor as a US Navy Veteran and later as a US Army Reservist.
