William Forrest Mangham passed into the presence of the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2019 in Greenville, South Carolina. The son of the late Dr. T. Grady (T.G.) and Sarah Marguarite Mangham, Forrest was born on September 9, 1928 in Asheville, North Carolina. One of seven siblings, Forrest accepted Christ as his Savior as a young boy, led to the Lord by his older sister, Sally. He was eleven years old when his father became pastor of the Miami Gospel Tabernacle in Miami, Florida, where Forrest met Mary Alice (Liebmann), a young girl with her hair in a mass of dark, shining ringlets. On June 10, 1949, after an eight year courtship, Forrest and Mary Alice were married in the Gospel Tabernacle. A graduate of Nyack Missionary Training Institute (now Nyack College), Forrest received his Bachelor of Theology degree in 1951 and embarked on a long and faithful pastoral ministry. He pastored Christian and Missionary Alliance churches in Hialeah, Florida; Columbus, Georgia; Jacksonville, Florida; and Lexington, North Carolina. Forrest’s final pastorate was served at Good Samaritan Community Church in Kissimmee, Florida. Forrest’s first wife, Mary Alice, passed away in April of 1992 after a 6-month battle with cancer. After a time of intense grief and loneliness, God graciously brought healing to Forrest’s heart as he united in marriage to Faye (Weaver) in June of 1993.Forrest retired from the ministry in 1994 but remained active in the church in Kissimmee, serving as Music Director. A number of young people were called into full-time Christian service as pastors or missionaries during Forrest’s 43-year ministry. Many dear friendships were formed and lives were impacted as Forrest served with faithfulness and humility, preaching the Gospel, loving and serving others and fulfilling his call. Forrest was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Alice, and his second wife, Faye. He is survived by his older brother, R. Harold Mangham, his children Mary (Ryan) Hafer, Bill (Ann) Mangham, Alice (Tim) Yale and Donna (Bruce) Riesen; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; as well as step-children David (Linda) Weaver, Debbie (Mike) Jones and Carol (David) Coulliette, and their children and grandchildren.
