William “Bill” Lewis, 85, of Greenville died at home on June 8, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy Rao Lewis, his children Kathryn R. Justice (Charles), Nancy Gladden, Dr. William “Billy” Lewis (Beth), Nina Lewis-Guza, his brother Judson Lewis, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia R. Lewis.
Bill was born in Scranton, PA on June 17, 1932 to Harold and Sylvia Lloyd Lewis, and graduated from West Scranton High School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy serving as a radioman aboard the USS Macon for four years. Bill worked as a texile executive before his retirement. He was a fan of Furman University athletics, and avid golfer, and an amateur painter. He played golf most days at Furman and enjoyed being a member of Greenville’s Monday Nght Painters.
In keeping with Bill”s wishes there will be no funeral. Those who wish to celebrate his life may make a donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas, 706 Grove Road, Greenville ,SC 29605.
