William J. “ Bill “ Meyers, Sr., 83, of Piedmont, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in Greenville, South Carolina. Born on January 31, 1935 in Basin, Montana to his parents, Henry Maier and Hazel (Davirs) Maier, he attended High School, then enlisted in the United States Navy for four years. After the Navy, Bill joined the Air Force and was stationed all over the United States as well as overseas. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and, after more than twenty years, retired in 1975 as a Senior Master Sargent. Bill then worked as a systems engineer for Metric Systems in Fort Walton Beach, Florida before moving to Tucson, Arizona to work for Hughes Aircraft. He worked at Hughes for fourteen years until his retirement in 1997. Bill was of the Catholic Faith.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith Ann Meyers, who passed away on August 8, 2014; and his brother, Robert Meyers. Those left to cherish Bill’s memory are his son, William J. Meyers and his wife, Melody of Greenville, South Carolina; his daughter, Deborah G. Young and her husband, Ralph of Easley, South Carolina; his son, Andrew J. Meyers and his partner, Michael Simpson of Mauldin, South Carolina; his granddaughter, Skylar A. Meyers of Greenville, South Carolina; and his nephew, Fritz Meyers of Montana. Bill’s family wishes to thank the Staff at Brookdale in Greenville for their excellent care for Bill during his three years as a resident, and Interim Hospice for their compassionate care during his final days.
