William Otis Mitchum, affectionately known as "Billy," passed away on October 16, 2023, in Greenville, South Carolina. He was born on October 12, 1981, in Augusta, Georgia.

Billy had a fulfilling career as a maintenance mechanic at PNG in Greenville. His expertise in auto mechanics allowed him to excel in his profession and earn the respect of his colleagues. Billy's passion for helping others extended beyond the workplace. He dedicated countless hours to assisting his friends with vehicle repairs, showcasing his talent and generous spirit.

Outside of work, Billy cherished the time he spent with his nephews Trey and Tyler in Texas. Every opportunity to visit them was seized eagerly by Billy, who found immense joy in their company. He believed that family bonds should be nurtured and treasured above all else.

One of Billy's greatest passions was sports. He loved cheering for Georgia Football and passionately supported the Braves Baseball team. Attending concerts held a special place in Billy's heart as he wholeheartedly appreciated the power of music to uplift spirits and create lasting memories.

Billy is survived by his father Frederick Otis Mitchum, sister Beth Ramos and her husband Ray, nephews Trey and Tyler, uncle Michael Mitchum, aunt Nancy Shields and her husband Mark, aunt Patrina Mitchum, aunt Donna Mitchell, aunt Mary Peninger, along with numerous cousins from both sides of the family.

He is preceded in death by his mother Anita M. Fickey; grandmother Anna Mitchell; grandfather Curtis Mitchell; grandmother Barbara Mitchum; and grandfather Otis "Buddy" Mitchum.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Billy's life will take place on October 20, 2023. The event will be a reflection of the warmth and love that Billy brought into this world. Friends, family, and all who were touched by his presence are invited to join in remembering and honoring his legacy.

He will be remembered as a selfless individual who brightened the lives of others through his generous spirit, unwavering love for family, and passion for sports and music.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local charity in Billy's name, as he would have preferred to continue making a positive impact in his community even after his passing.

As we mourn the loss of William Otis "Billy" Mitchum, let us also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and honor the everlasting memories he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace.
