Greenville - William Anthony ‘Tony’ Goodwin, 66, passed away July 2, 2016. He was born on July 27, 1949, in Greenville to the late William ‘Bill’ and Louise Goodwin of Belton. Tony attended Wade Hampton High School where he enjoyed art and was a good friend to many that he grew up with showing horses and training them along with his father, sisters and brothers. He was employed by his dad’s company ‘Goodwin Trucking Company’ and later worked at Dillon Supply Company in Greenville. Mr. Goodwin was a member of Rutherford Rd. Baptist Church. He cared for his mother and father during their last years and helped keep them cheered up while staying with them. He was known as a good hearted person and anyone that needed help he was always there for them.
Survived by his precious sons, Michael Goodwin of Jones Gap, SC, Brad Goodwin of Belton, and precious daughter, Lisa Goodwin Fuller, of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren, Andrew Fuller, Justin Fuller, and Noble Goodwin and a step daughter Jaclyn Butcher.
He was predeceased by a brother Donald Goodwin and leaves behind 4 brothers, Jerry Goodwin (Linda), and Jeffery Goodwin of Belton, Roger Goodwin (Dianna) and Jimmy (Heidi) Goodwin of Simpsonville SC. Also surviving are 5 sisters, Billie Dooley (Frank), Gwen Kuebler (Bob), and Debbie Schonfeld (Peter) of Simpsonville, Norma Hughes-Smith (Alda) of Belton and Linda (Henry) Gage of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
He also leaves behind the mothers of his children Michael and Lisa; Vickie Goodwin Strickland of Greenville and Dixie Goodwin Hicks of Belton. Tony was always proud of the 67 great grand and great-great grand nieces and nephews who loved him which he had said made him feel richly blessed.
Funeral services will be held on Friday July 15, at Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church 19 Sidney St. Greenville, SC. 29609 with visitation from 1:00pm to 1:45 and service at 2:00 PM conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Duncan. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Wade Hampton Blvd. in Greenville at 4:00pm.
