Wayne Sowers

February 14, 1959 — June 26, 2023

Wayne Sowers passed away June 26, 2023. Born on February 14, 1959, in Sumter County, South Carolina. Wayne was the son of the late Clarence Sowers and Annie Ruth Sowers (Green). Wayne spent his early years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before returning to South Carolina with his family in the late 1970s. He graduated from Wilson High School in Florence, South Carolina and went on to join the United States Army where he served as a wire systems installer. While in the army, Wayne earned a good conduct medal and his M-16 expert marksman badge.
Wayne had a career in wire installation and telecommunications. He worked at BellSouth, Crown Castle, and others allowed him to travel stateside and abroad. He could always point out the towers he'd climbed whenever driving around South Carolina and often spoke fondly of his experiences visiting the continent of Africa.
Wayne will be remembered as a man who was both tough and generous. He always said what was on his mind and his laugh was joyful and contagious. Wayne loved fishing, watching westerns, collecting items from Craigslist to fix up, and reading about national parks.
Wayne was predeceased by his father Clarence Sowers, son Tyris Amear Sowers, and grand-daughter Emerald Joy Paige. He will be lovingly remembered by his surviving relatives, his mother, Annie Ruth Sowers; his daughter Endia Sowers Paige (Adam); sons Terrance Sowers (Re'ona) and Javian Felks; bonus son, Louis Swinton (Bermonica); his sisters Delores Rush, Ruby Nettles, Alfreda Sowers, and Tina Reardon; brother Maurice Sowers; granddaughters, Eden and Rosie; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
