Warren E. Kraft Jr.

December 12, 1929 — December 21, 2023

Warren E. Kraft Jr., 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 21,
2023, at The Gables on Pelham Assisted Living in Greenville, S.C.

An informal Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 13, at
11:30 a.m. at Cremation Society of South Carolina – Westville Funerals,
6010 White Horse Road, Greenville. Friends and family are invited to
attend. At his final farewell, Warren, as all who knew him will
understand, would prefer laughter and stories rather than sadness and
tears.

Warren was born in Waukesha, WI., on December 12, 1929, and was
raised in Racine, WI. He was a classmate of the Washington Park High
School class of 1948.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school, and after completing
basic training at Fort Knox, KY., volunteered for the Army Airborne at
Fort Benning, GA., where he earned his parachute and glider wings.

Warren was a decorated combat veteran of the Korean War, reaching the
rank of Seargent First Class with the 187th Airborne Regimental

Combat Team, parachuting twice behind enemy lines to engage the
North Korean and Chinese armies. Among other decorations, he was
awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal with
four Bronze Stars and two Bronze Arrowheads; and two Gold Star
attachments to his parachute wings for airborne missions behind enemy
lines.

He retired from careers in sales and real estate development.

Warren is survived by his son, Kevin (Susan) Kraft of Chandler, AZ, and
his daughters, Juli Jacobsen of Greer, SC, Amy (Len) McBride of
Sherrills Ford, NC, and Beth (Don) Wood of Cornelia, GA.

Nine grandchildren also survive him; Kyle Kraft, Lauren Cundiff,
Matthew Jacobsen, Mitchell Jacobsen, Megan Allen, Erin McBride,
Lindley Boger, Sam Boger and Stephen Boger; and nine great-
grandchildren; Bekytt Kraft, Kenna and Jordan Cundiff, Haley, Kaiden,
and Ella Jacobsen, Adelyn Allen, Kaleigh and Hatlee Hayes; and his
first wife and the mother of his children, Carol Black, of Flat Rock, NC;
many nieces and nephews and his good friends and neighbors, Dr. Mark
White and Helen Mittlestadt, and their children, Logan and Marley; and
loyal friend and companion, Linda Looney.

Warren was preceded in death by his second wife, Elizabeth Moran
Kraft; his father and mother, Warren Kraft Sr. and Gladys (Kraft)
Boehme; his sister Shirley (Kraft) Sadlon, and brothers Harvey, Bill and
John.

Warren was Deist by faith with a strong belief in a supreme God who
created the physical universe. Honoring his wishes, his remains will be
cremated and scattered along with Elizabeth's in a mountain river so that
they may be together forever on the river they so enjoyed.

In lieu of flowers, Warren asked for donations to the Greenville Humane
Society, 305 Airport Road, Greenville SC., 29607; or Honor Flight
Upstate South Carolina, PO Box 838, Simpsonville, SC, 29681. Warren
loved his dogs, and his Honor Flight trip in 2015 to the Korean War
Memorial in Washington D.C., was one of the best days of his life.
