Violet Cazan Haslup

July 18, 1928 — December 23, 2019

Violet Cazan Haslup, 91, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Dec. 23, 2019, at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, SC.
She was born on July 18, 1928 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the youngest of six children of her Romanian immigrant parents. She graduated from Martins Ferry High School in 1946, and the Ohio State University in 1950 where she was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She married the love of her life, W. Lee Haslup in 1950, and although they lived away from Ohio
in their later years, they always had fond memories of their first 50 years living in the Buckeye state.
Mrs. Haslup was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth (Masca) Cazan; and her husband, W. Lee Haslup. She is survived by her loving sons, Steve (Sara) Haslup of Seneca, SC; and David (Kelly) Haslup of Gloucester, VA; grandchildren Scott (Jennifer) Haslup, Elizabeth (Matt) Donaldson, Stuart (Jenna) Haslup, Ben (Carrie) Haslup, and David
(Sarah Tyler) Haslup; and great-grandchildren Anna Haslup, Audrey Haslup, Emilie Haslup, Jack Donaldson, Isla Haslup, Connor Haslup, Mason Donaldson and Rosalie Haslup.
In addition to her family, Mrs. Haslup enjoyed her hobbies of sewing, knitting, crocheting, assembling miniature dollhouses and quilting. She was especially happy to be a significant part of the lives of her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, to whom she gave
her love, wisdom and support. Her family will always cherish her positive outlook and wit.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Feb. 8, 2020, at Belvedere Commons in Seneca, SC. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Haslup requested that memorials be made to New Hope Baptist Church, P.O. Box 8212, Seneca, SC, 29672, directed to the annual Romania Medical Dental Mission Project sponsored by the church.
