Vincent M. Gaspar, age 90 of Greer, SC passed peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2016 with his loving wife at his side.
He was born on December 30, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Vince Gaspar and Mary (Fodor) Gaspar. He married Maryann Nyitray on October 9, 1948 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Toledo. Preceding Vince in death are his parents and brother Joseph Gaspar.
He attended Macomber High School before serving in the US Navy from 1943-1946. Vince was a Toledo Firefighter for 30 years retiring from Station 25 in 1981. He was always a man of many interests including photography, stamp collecting and model railroading. After he retired he was president of the Maumee Valley Gun Collectors Association for several years and was also active in military shows. He made many good friends through this hobby and was well respected for his knowledge of WWII collectibles. In 2011, he and Maryann moved to Greer, SC to be near his daughter and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Maryann; daughter, Deborah (Stan) Fletcher of Taylors, SC; grandchildren Vince (Kelli) Bechtel of Greer, SC, Brittany (Cale) Harbin of Taylors, SC, Regina (Scott) Brzak of Wahiawa, HI and Michelle (Tom) Williams of Dunwoody, GA. He also had 9 great grandchildren that brought him much joy.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 901 River Road, Greer, SC.
