Vera May Cobb Childress 93, of Easley, SC passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, January 3rd, 2021. She was born on Saturday, April 30th, 1927 at her home in Greenville , SC.
Vera will be missed by her family, her daughter, Phyllis Ann Childress Bowers and her son-in-law John Bowers; her daughter-in-law, Beth Childress; her grandchildren, Justin Douglas Childress(Melanie) and Kristin Elizabeth Childress; her great grandchildren, Elijah Childress and Eva Childress; and her cousins Jim Medlin and Gene Medlin.
She was predeceased by her mother, Maudie Cobb Hamby, her husband, Douglas Dwight Childress and her son Phillip Douglas Childress.
Vera worked as a salesperson for the Hamericks Department Stores, she enjoyed gardening, traveling and cooking. Her favorite times were with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of Gethsemane Baptist Church until two years ago when she had to slow down.

In accordance with the “Social Distancing” protocol put forth by the CDC, the Funeral Home will require the use of “Masks/Facial Covering” and NO physical contact in the Chapel.
The Family will receive friends from 1:30pm to 2pm, with a Funeral Service to follow on Monday, January 11th, 2021 at 2pm at the Cremation Society of SC-Westville Funerals Chapel 6010 White Horse Rd., Greenville, SC 29611. The Burial will follow at Graceland West Cemetery, 4814 White Horse Rd., Greenville, SC 29611.
