Tom Anderson Corley, a World War II veteran, private pilot, and avid outdoorsman, passed away on October 28, 2024, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 97.
Tom was born on February 21, 1927, in Selma, AL, after which his family moved to Georgia. He graduated from Marietta High School and shortly after joined the United States Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. When he returned home from service, he earned a degree from Emory University.
Tom enjoyed the outdoors and spent time hunting, fishing and camping. He was also a private pilot and enjoyed flying small aircraft and spending time at the local airport talking with other pilots.
A favorite pastime was ending the day at home in front of a cozy fire. He will be remembered for his generosity and his love of family and friends. His smile and kind words will be missed.
Tom was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Weaver Corley and William Henry Corley. He is survived by his beloved wife, Eolyne Dasher Corley, his children William Corley, Jean Yankus, Ellen Corley and Joel Smith, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Royston, GA on November 16, 2024 at 11:00am.
