Thomas John McEvoy, age 73, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024. He was born August 10, 1951, in Lynn, Massachusetts to Mary Florence McEvoy and John F. McEvoy. He attended St. Mary’s School in Lynn. Tom was a very gifted academic. His higher education included law classes at Harvard University and Sloan School of Business at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1974 he graduated from the College of Engineering at Northeastern University.

After college Tom went to work for Eastman Kodak where he began his career as an Industrial Engineer.  Tom held several positions at Kodak, working his way up to Chief Information Officer. His career took him worldwide, including 4 years in Melbourne, Australia. He was employed with Kodak for over 20 years.

In 2005 Tom purchased an independent shipping business in Mebane, North Carolina. As the owner and operator, he ran the business for 16 years. Tom loved being a member of the Mebane business community and made many long relationships. In 2021 Tom sold the business and retired.

Tom loved to cook. He was an excellent chef and loved watching Food Network for the latest cooking tips. He took great pride in shopping for, preparing, and presenting a meal – especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas. He was also an avid fan of the TV show Shark Tank. His favorite movies were White Christmas and A Christmas Story. Christmas was his favorite holiday and he held it very close to his heart.  It meant so much to him to have a Christmas tree, decorate the house, and cook a traditional Polish Christmas meal. He loved the comforts of home, plants, and his beloved dog Susie who was with him 19 years.

Tom is survived by his cats Daisy and Layla, and his partner of nearly 20 years and husband of 8 years, Joseph Hudson of Greenville, SC.

Memorials can be made to: Bon Secours Hospice by Compassus, 1836 W. Georgia Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29680.

A special thank you to the nursing staff at Bon Secours Hospice. They provided the highest level of care, love and comfort to Tom during his last days.
