Thomas Austin MacKenzie, 70, passed away October 20, 2015 at his home in Anderson, SC.

Born in Key West, FL, he was the son of Thomas Harrison and Margaret Louella MacKenzie.   He was a talented builder of birchbark and wood and fabric canoes, an experienced canoe instructor and a life-long member of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association since its inception in 1979.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Hoagland MacKenzie; his mother, Margaret MacKenzie of Lenexa, KS; two sisters, Claudia MacKenzie of Oak Harbor, WA, and Mary Adams and her husband Alan of Overland Park, KS; a brother, Douglas MacKenzie and his wife Rebecca of Englewood, CO; six nieces and nephews; and one great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Harrison MacKenzie.

A celebration of his life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on November 14, 2015 at McFalls Landing Community Building, 1625 Broadway Lake Road, Anderson, SC.  Memorials may be made to Wisconsin Canoe Heritage Museum, P. O. Box 365, Spooner, WI, 54801.
