Thomas Ernest Eve

November 5, 1945 — February 18, 2025

Belton, SC

Thomas Ernest Eve, much loved husband, father and "Poppy" passed from this world February 18, 2025. He was a resident of Richard M. Campbell Nursing Home at the time of his death. Tom was born in Rochester, NY, the youngest of the 4 children of Ernest and Isabelle Eve. He spent his growing up years in rural upstate New York and had many interesting stories about the summers he spent working in the apple and cherry orchards prevalent in the area at that time. At the age of 18, Tom followed in his father's footsteps and went to work at Rochester Products, a GM subsidiary. Starting on the machining floor, he eventually rose to a supervisory position and manager of the tool crib. He was also integral in developing an in-house training program for employees. Tom left GM temporarily to serve 4 years in the Air Force, first as a medic and then as admin assistant to the base commander. He also played on his unit's tennis team, competing against other military teams. He once had the privilege of playing against Arthur Ashe, a game in which he (Tom) was soundly trounced. When Tom was honorably discharged, he returned to GM and eventually retired after 30 years employment.

Tom married Stasia Kozuch in 1990. Taking advantage of his retirement, they relocated to a 4-acre property in SC. This quickly became his "playground" where he devoted himself to improving the property by clearing tress, brush and planting (too many) garden beds. His proudest possession was his John Deere Gator, which he put to very good use. During this time, he also worked for several years as an independent sales rep for various carbide tooling suppliers. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles (the bigger the better), reading and men's college basketball.

Tom was the father of 2 children (Sara and Jason), "Poppy" to 8 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 2 little ones. He also was "Dog-Father" to a succession of 7 pups, all of whom he loved dearly and spoiled rotten. He was a good, kind man who always tried to do the right thing. He would be the first to help if you needed something, but being a plain-spoken man, he'd also speak his mind honestly. He will be very much missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

Rest in peace, honey, we love you.
