Thomas Beltzer

September 16, 1944 — January 3, 2025

Spartanburg, SC

Thomas Franklin Belzer, 80, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away on January 3, 2025. Tommy was born on September 16, 1944, in Brookfield, Missouri, the son of Allen Belzer and Anna Belle (Longwell) Belzer. On May 28, 1966, he married Marcella Elaine Brobst, who preceded him in death in 2014. To this marriage two children were born, Kimberly and Brian. On April 15, 2017, he married Marie Eileen Bourn, who survives him at home.

Tommy attended school in Meadville, Missouri where he graduated in 1962. He joined the Army National Guard in 1965, serving as a Motor Sergeant, and was honorably discharged in 1971. Most of his career was as a truck driver, a job he very much enjoyed because of the curious knowledge, great people he encountered, and the stories they had to tell. This love of travel and learning continued in his retirement as he traveled the country taking in historical and national parks and monuments as well as spending nearly every year at Dollywood. He excelled at woodworking and construction and his pieces are still in use today by many who received them.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Marie, and puppy Charlie; his daughter Kimberly Belzer of Virginia; and his son Brian (Ladonna) Belzer of Louisiana. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren above all else including his granddaughters Xandie Belzer of Louisiana and Camberlynn, Sutton, and Scottie of South Carolina. He is also survived by one brother, Ken (Suzanne) Belzer; one sister, Judy (Bob) Holcer; nieces Michelle, Angie, Stacy, Corette, and Cari; nephews Dan, Don, Doug, Dave, Ron, Mike, and Tommy; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Belzer; his mother Anna Belle (Longwell) Belzer; his sister Helen Anne (West) Dennis; and his brother, Gene West
