The Reverend Sidney J. Hall
October 15, 1930 — June 5, 2016
The Reverend Sidney J. Hall passed away on June 5, 2016 at the age of 85. Son of Lola Mae and James Robert Hall; he was born in Hartsville, SC. Sidney is pre-deceased by his parents, brother William Robert Hall and wife Martha Frances Hall (Mott).
Sidney was a U. S. Navy veteran from the Korean War era. He graduated from Baylor University and obtained a Masters in Divinity at Bluefield College. After serving as a Baptist minister for many years, he attended the Virginia Theological Seminary and was ordained into the priesthood in 1988. He served in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia.
Sidney was passionate about the arts and was recognized for his photography. He was also passionate about flying, and was a general aviation pilot.
He is survived by daughter Elizabeth Hall Newton (Eddie) of Clemson SC, son John Michael Scott Hall (Kelley) of Greenville SC, and his grandchildren John Taylor Hall, Audra Kathryn Newton and Catherine Sanderson Hall.
A service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Clemson, South Carolina on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Harold Morse for his many years of compassionate care and friendship. Also, we would like to thank the outstanding staff at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home for their exceptional care.
