Thad Boroughs

Thad C. Boroughs, Jr., 87, died August 21, 2017. The son of T. C. and Welthy Verdin Boroughs, he was a lifelong resident of Greenville. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, the former Eleanor Armstrong, two sons – The Rev. Cal Boroughs III (Susan) of Chattanooga and Don F. Boroughs (Lynda) of Greer, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his sister Patsy (Don) Vanderhoof of Taylors. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wilma Crawford of Greenville. Thad earned his pilots' license before he had a drivers license.  He served as a radioman in the U.S. Naval Reserves for 12 years. He was an avid golfer and was a member emeritus of Saluda Valley Country Club in Williamston, SC.  He also enjoyed vacationing (especially fishing for flounder) at Pawley's Island, SC. He operated Service Repair Company in Greenville for 30 years. Visitation will be from 10:00-10:45 AM, Saturday, August 26 at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, 207 Mitchell Road, Greenville. A memorial service follows at 11:00.
