Terry "Pops" Moore

November 14, 1946 — January 18, 2024

Terry "Pops" Moore, known affectionately as Terry by those who had the pleasure of his company, left this world on January 18, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on November 14, 1946, in the warm community of Greenville, SC, Terry's life was a tapestry woven with love, adventure, and creativity. He drew his last breath surrounded by the love of his family in Anderson, SC, leaving behind a legacy of joy and spirited memories.

Terry's journey was one marked by love, most notably with Sara Roper, who was unequivocally the love of his life. Together, they created a family that was the centerpiece of Terry's world. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Michelle Fitzgerald, married to John, and Shannon Smith, wed to Jacob and his sister Bobbie Martin. His role as a grandfather to Michael, Kayla, and Ally, married to Charles, was one of his most cherished titles. The joy in his life multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren Evie Thorp, Eleanor Crown, and Khalani Beaty, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. He also mentored his "little brother" Billy Chapman.

Terry's family circle extended to his caring nieces, Tonya Currens, with her husband Todd, and Cindy Dove with her husband Jarrett, along with his nephews Johnny Beckwith and Jerry Moore Jr. His life was enriched by their presence, and the bond they shared was unbreakable. Though pre-deceased by his father Robert Lee Moore, his mother Ethel Stargel Moore, his twin brother Jerry Moore and a niece Shannon Thomas, the values and love instilled by his family remained a guiding force throughout his life.

A graduate of Parker High School, Terry's work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led him to a fulfilling career as a meat cutter before he ventured into owning a restaurant. His dedication to his craft and his community involvement left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Terry's work was not just a means of livelihood, but a platform for him to connect with others, showcasing his loving and adventurous spirit.

Beyond his professional achievements, Terry was a man of many interests. He found solace in the simplicity of gardening, the artistry of cooking, and the science of making honey and wine. These hobbies were a testament to his creative soul, and they allowed him to share his passions with friends and family, creating memories that would be treasured for generations.

Those who knew Terry would describe him as a loving individual who embraced life's adventures with a creative flair. He had a heart that was ever-welcoming and a spirit that was as free as the birds he loved to watch in his garden. Terry's laughter was infectious, and his ability to love unconditionally was a gift to all who crossed his path.

Terry "Pops" Moore lived a life that was full and vibrant. His absence will be felt deeply by all who were lucky enough to know him, but the legacy of his love and the memories of his adventures will continue to live on. Terry's life story is one of a man who loved deeply, laughed heartily, and gave generously of himself to his family and community. As we say goodbye to Terry, we celebrate the time we had with him and the countless ways he enriched our lives. His spirit will forever remain a beacon of love and creativity in the hearts of those he touched.
