Terrence John "Terry" Wait, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023, in Clemson, SC, at the age of 79. Born on June 21, 1944, in Coos Bay, OR, Terry was a beacon of love and humor to all who knew him.

Terry was raised in Wallace, NC by the love and guidance of his parents, the late Doc and Kathryn "Kay" Wait. He grew up alongside his brothers, Jim (Diane) Wait and Danny (Theresa) Wait, forging lifelong bonds and a legacy of laughter. Terry's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he was a devoted husband to his wife, Beverly Ingram Wait, and a loving father to his daughters, Courtney (Rett Murphy) Wait and Kathryn (Sander) Wait Koning who was raised in Cary, NC. His granddaughters, Olivia and Finley Koning, knew him as "Gamp," a title he wore with pride and joy.

Terry served in the Air Force for six years prior to beginning his college career at Brevard College. He transferred to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where he earned his degree in 1972 and was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. During these years, be developed friendships that have lasted a lifetime.

Terry was an avid sports enthusiast. He found great pleasure in playing golf and tennis, and he was a fervent supporter of the Clemson Tigers, the Atlanta Braves, and the Carolina Hurricanes. His love for sports was matched only by his love for travel, especially when it involved visiting National Parks. Above all, Terry's greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters, who were the light of his life. He moved to Clemson, SC two years ago so he could spend more time with his daughters and granddaughters.

Terry's kind and loving nature was evident to all who met him. He was often described as the best husband, dad, and "Gamp" one could ask for. His sense of humor was infectious, and he had a unique ability to make everyone around him smile.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and laughter that will be carried on by his family and the numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Terry. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and joy to those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Terry's life was a testament to his faith and the importance of family. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the life he lived and the countless ways he enriched the lives of others. Terry's spirit will forever remain a guiding light for his loved ones, and his memory will be cherished for generations to come.
