Tammy Elaine Thompson, daughter of the late William P. Thompson and Priscilla A. Matthews, of Travelers Rest, SC, passed away on Wednesday, May 25th. She is survived by her three daughters, Whitney Ivey McClendon (Alvin), Deidre Ivey, Dasha Drummond; her two sisters, Lisa Thompson Meredith (Fred) and Billie Joe "BJ" Gabriel; her brother, William "Buddy" Thompson (Sonya); three grandchildren, Xi Ivey, Symone Ivey, and Devynn McClendon; her step-father Daniel Matthews; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Tammy was a natural-born caregiver, and an aspiring nurse. While she never obtained a formal nursing degree, she lovingly cared for countless friends and family members. She was affectionately known as "mama" to those who had the pleasure of knowing her - she was a mother of three, but "mama" to an entire village.
She was stubborn, passionate, and full of life - a true firecracker! She never backed down, she never gave up, and, as her tattoo said, she "never sank". Words could never do Tammy justice - though we'll try "To know her was to love her, and she was impossible to forget".
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
