Tafton Shelby White, aka Notfat and Uncles, passed away on October 25, 2019, at his home in Greer. Born December 16, 1978 in Naples, Florida, he was 40 years old.
Tafton was preceded in death by all four grandparents along with other loved ones. Tafton was born to Theodore Stacy White and Theresa Celeste Greene. Both parents are still living along with his Stepmother, Betty White, and his Stepfather, Teddy Joe Greene. He left behind two sons: Blake White, 17, and Bailey White, 14; a brother, Theodore White, Jr., and sister, Tristan White, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
As a child, Taft was a very shy but loyal friend in grade school. He loved Royal Rangers and gave his life to Jesus around age 5. Later, he was married to Valorie Lynn Goldsmith on May 5, 2000 in Hawaii.
Struggling with dyslexia, Tafton dropped out of school in the 9th grade, but still went on to get his GED and his Building Contractors License in SC. He built his own home at the age of 21, owned his own construction company, and went on to build two more homes for his family. Tafton was an accomplished scuba diver and earned his Dive Master Certificate. Taft could build cars and loved riding motorcycles. He could snow ski Black Diamonds and was an avid stamp, coin, and card collector.
At the age of 35, Tafton was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Our family’s lives were forever changed. He went through a massive surgery and became dependent on God, family, doctors, and medications for survival. For 6.5 years, he went through indescribable trials. Tafton's departure was devastating, unexpected, and has left us heartbroken. We know he's in heaven. He will forever be missed but not forgotten.
We love you Tafton!
