Steve Garner

Steve Garner, 73, of Taylors, SC, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on November 10, 2022. He was the son of the late Robert Lacey and Mary Lougenia Garner, born in Spartanburg, SC, on January 4, 1949. Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Gale Kimball Garner; sons: Patrick Lacey Garner (Christine) and Richard "Tom" Garner (Mary Ashley); grandchildren: Teddy Garner, Jesse Garner, and Tessa Garner; and special niece Caroline DiLorenzo and her family. He is also survived by many lifelong friends which he cherished dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Doctor Robert T. Garner and Patrick Lacey Garner; and sister-in-law Susan Garner. Steve was an avid sports enthusiast, especially loving his Clemson Tigers. He enjoyed going to his farm in Union County, and more than anything he loved spending his time with his grandchildren and going to all their activities. Steve loved his church The Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd in Greer, SC. He will be remembered as a generous man that would literally give the coat off his back, befriended anyone, and was a stranger to no one. "At his passing, the world seemed just not as bright". Steve was the life of the party always keeping his friends and loved ones laughing. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the DaVita Greer Kidney Center. In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to The Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd in Greer, SC, PO Box 1408, Greer SC, 29652. A Service of Resurrection Celebrating the Life of Steve will be held at The Episcopal Church of The Good Shepherd on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 4:00 PM, with interment in the church Rose Garden to follow the service. A reception will follow the interment in the church parish hall. Because of limited parking spaces, parking can be on the streets and in the parking garage connected to Hampton Inn.
