Stephen C Baker

Stephen C. Baker, known affectionately as Steve to his friends and family, passed away on November 18, 2024, in his hometown of Spartanburg, SC, where he was also born on July 14, 1955. Steve's life was one marked by dedication, joy, and a love for the community that he was an integral part of throughout his 69 years.

Steve was the beloved son of the late Clayton Earl Baker and Dorothy Payne Baker. His legacy continues through his cherished children, Clayton Tillman Baker (Kinsley) and Carley Anna Baker, and his adored grandson, Clayton Miller Baker. Steve's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he instilled in them the values of love, intelligence, and wisdom—qualities he embodied every day.

For over three decades, Steve was the proud owner of Baker's Wallpaper and Painting Service, a business he built from the ground up. His reputation for excellent workmanship and reliability became well-known throughout Spartanburg and beyond. Steve's hands-on approach and attention to detail in his work mirrored the care he took in every aspect of his life.

Steve's interests were as rich and varied as his character. He was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether it was attending or hosting cookouts with friends and family, or spending a leisurely day at antique car shows, admiring the craftsmanship of classic vehicles. The farm was also home to many animals, but none as beloved as "Sweetness," his 1500 pound pig, who was a gentle giant and a source of many smiles.

His wisdom was often sought after, and his advice was given with a thoughtful and caring spirit. Steve's presence was a comfort to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
