Born on December 4, 1959, also in Greenville, Step was a man who lived a full life, marked by dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the simple pleasures in life.

Step was a hard worker throughout his life, always maintaining employment until his well-deserved retirement. His commitment to his job was only surpassed by his devotion to his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, embodied by his son, Quintine Cooper, and his beloved granddaughter, Ki'Mani Cooper. Step's life was further enriched by the companionship of his girlfriend, May Hope, with whom he shared many joyful moments.

He was the cornerstone of a large and loving family, which includes his aunt Connie McMahan; cousins Steve Bowens and Sheila, Brian Arnold and Sharess Holiday, James Butler and Jocelyn, Sharon and Andrei Stoddard, Tammy Hamilton (Alvin Hamilton), and Andrea and Josh Stoddard.
