Sonny Ray Miller

August 15, 1959 — May 10, 2024

Greenville, SC

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sonny Ray Miller, beloved son, brother, and uncle. Sonny passed peacefully at home on May 10, 2024, in the care of his family, after years of battling illness. Sonny was predeceased by his father Bruce Miller, mother Betty Miller, brothers Ron and Jerry Miller, sister Sarah Hutchison, and brother Randy Miller. He is survived by his brother Mike Miller, twin sister Bunny Whitehead, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sonny's life was beset with challenges and obstacles, but he never let that stop him. In adversity, he gained strength and determination. After various jobs in his youth, Sonny found his niche in the world through welding. He was happy creating things with his hands and always had perfection as his goal. While there are Tradesmen and Craftsmen, Sonny's contributions were more as an Artisan. He was always proud of his work and would continue projects until they were of the highest caliber of creation.

Loving children, but having none of his own, Sonny that simply made the entire world of children his to enjoy. He always had the same little grin when he was able to make a baby smile. He enjoyed playing with them on their level with the same enthusiasm and degree of engagement. I remember the times he spent with nieces and nephews in their childhoods and the giggling and infectious laughter of them together. Sonny's love of family can never be overstated. There will be a graveside service for Sonny on May 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM presided over by Rev. Purvis at Graceland East Memorial Park, 2206 Woodruff Road, Simpsonville. After the service, there will be a Celebration of Life at Woodside Church of God, 1410 West Parker Road, Greenville SC.
