Sherrill Avery Jones

Sherrill Avery Jones, age 84, of Greenville, SC, left this world to be with his Heavenly Father on March 17, 2025.

Sherrill was born in Pickens, South Carolina, on September 1, 1940. A son of the late Bruce and Myrtle Clark Jones. He married the love of his life, Sandra Baldwin on December 10, 1960.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold F. Jones, and Lewis C. Jones and one son-in-law, Freddie Davis.

Sherrill is survived by his wife, Sandy, three daughters, Sherry (James) Robertson of Travelers Rest, SC; Pamela Davis of Greenville, SC; and Denise (Erik) Richardson of Greenville, SC. Eight grandchildren, Elicia (Jacob) Johnson, Will (Julia) Hyatt, Taylor (Heather) Ramey, Arthur (Tracey) Hyatt, Orrin (Logan) Richardson, Dean (Kira)

Richardson, Grady Richardson and Emory Richardson; and 18 great-grandchildren. Two brothers Wilton O. Jones of NM and Preston L. Jones of SC; one sister Bonnie S. Snow of FL; and one sister-in-law Margie S. Jones of SC; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He dedicated his life to his family, and his work. Working 20 years at Singer in Pickens, and another 20 years at Michelin in Greenville. Retiring in 2000 and spending the last 24 years spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Often taking time to go hunting or fishing and finding freedom amongst God’s creations. Spending time with God in church and with his church family was also one of his biggest blessings.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Radiant Church, 15 Crane Ave., Greenville, SC 29617. Pastor Ricky Motes will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary. In remembrance of Sherrill, we will be wearing red, his favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, all memorial donations should be made to the Radiant Church Building Fund.
