Shawn Breen

March 2, 1963 — September 9, 2020

Shawn Breen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his devoted family embraced by God’s love and reunited with his parents, Sherry and Lyle, and other family. He was raised in Dannemora, NY where as a boy, he made many life-long friends and raised his family.
He leaves behind his adoring wife of 37 years, Melody, and sons, Ryan Breen of Greenville, SC, and Christopher and Amber Breen of Keeseville, NY. He also leaves behind his brother, James Breen of Plattsburgh, NY, and Robyn Ogrodnick of Durham, NC as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, sister-in-law, step-grandson, and many friends.
He was a caring family man who worked for 31 years as an officer at Clinton Correctional to provide a good life for his family and was affectionately known as “Pops”. He taught his family to appreciate planning, the outdoors, and sports. He loved sharing time with his family cheering on his favorite teams, coaching youth hockey, and camping.
Shawn loved the outdoors and spent many hours biking and skiing with friends especially the “Pumphouse Gang” as well as hiking the Adirondacks and becoming a “46er” and had also begun completing the Appalachian Trail and biking the Blue Ridge Pkwy.
A Celebration of Life is planned for the spring where many of Shawn’s adventures can be shared.
