Scott Andrew Hortis went home to heaven on December 28, 2022 due to complications with the flu. Scott was a native to Greenville, SC and is preceded in death by his parents, Michael Thomas Hortis and Elaine Audrey Hortis and a nephew, Ryan Thomas Hortis. Scott is survived by his ex-wife, Laura Jamieson, his daughter, Hailey Audrey Hortis (21), a sister, Athena Hortis, and three brothers Christopher, Greg, and David Hortis, and 4 nieces, Meghan, Cassidei, Elisabeth and Breece, all of Greenville.
Among Scott’s many passions was hunting with his best buddies, spending Saturdays watching Bama football with his family, learning how to fly helicopters, and listening to covers of his favorite songs on You Tube. He also enjoyed Nascar racing. Scott was known for being a loyal friend and his gift was that of service to others and his community. He was a devoted father, brother, son, husband, and friend.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church 207 Mitchell Road Greenville SC 29615 on Saturday, January 14th with receiving of friends from 1-2:15pm followed by the service at 2:30pm.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the outpouring of sympathy, emails, phone calls, cards and prayers.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church https://www.mitchellroad.org/or to The Haven of Rest 219 West Whitner Street Anderson SC 29621 or on their website https://www.havenofrest.cc/ .
