Sarah Bess Davis Moss

Sarah Bess Davis Moss of Greenville, SC passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Sarah was born May 8, 1923, in Pickens, SC to the late Zora Richey Davis and Robert Lawrence Davis and is preceded in death by brothers R.L. “Buster” Davis and Luther O. Davis, and sisters Lucille Holder, Winnie Baldwin, Tweetie Schwefel, and Ellie Maynard. She is survived by her daughter Susan Potter (Ken) of Gaffney, SC, her son Dennis Moss (Emily) of Greenville, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and a nephew.
Sarah was a graduate of Greenville High School. Over her long life time, she attended services at Augusta Heights Baptist Church singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school, Earle Street Baptist Church, and Saint Phillips Episcopal Church. She worked for the SC Department of Juvenile Justice for many years retiring when in her eighties. She was a thoughtful, caring friend to everyone she met. She delighted in her grandchildren. She loved all her canine companions and acquaintances, especially Maggie who provided much comfort in her senior years.
We are thankful for the assistance of the caregivers at Oakview Park Senior Living, with Amedisys Hospice Care, and those at Earle Street Baptist Church who provide thoughtful comfort. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Greenville Humane Society, 328 Furman Hall Rd, Greenville, SC, or Earle Street Baptist Church, 225 W Earle Street, Greenville, SC 29609. A private service will be held at a later date.
