She is survived by her beloved daughters, Becky Sawyer and boyfriend Josh Cohen, Dawn Crow, and husband John. Her memory will be treasured by her adoring sister, Carol Chapman, nephew Charles Lukancich and wife Elizabeth and niece, Tiffany Harrison and husband Timothy. The light of her life was her grandchildren, Jacquelyn Stiner, married to Shane, Harrison Sawyer, and Jake Crow, along with Jake's wife Gracie. Despite the loss of her husband, John C. Uyak, and her parents, Charles and Rebecca McMillan, Sam's legacy of love continues to shine through her family.
An adventurous spirit, Sam leaped into her 77th year by embracing the thrilling experience of hang gliding, showcasing her belief that age is but a number, and life is to be lived to its fullest. Her zest for life found expression in her support for the Steelers football team, immersing herself in books, spinning the reels at casino slots, and the simple joys of music. Her love for engaging the mind extended to board games and puzzles, activities she saw as yet another opportunity to bring people together.
