Born on January 29, 1957, in Greenville, SC, Sandy was a spirited soul who brought joy and warmth to everyone she encountered. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family bonds, and the impact one person can have on the lives of many.

Sandy was the cherished daughter of the late William and Barbara Medford. She grew up in a home filled with laughter and kindness alongside her brothers Billy and Allen Medford. Sandy's devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life, and she was a pillar of strength and support for them all.

Her educational journey led her to earn a GED, a testament to her determination and resilience. Sandy found her true calling in life, not within the pages of textbooks, but in the hearts of the people she touched. She was a living embodiment of love, always putting the needs of others before her own, and her legacy is etched in the countless lives she has influenced.

Sandy's heart was most full when surrounded by her beloved son, Shannon Summey, and daughter-in-law, Leah Summey. She was predeceased by her son, Jamie Summey (Samantha), whose memory she held close to her heart. Sandy's grandsons, Dillen, Logen, Cullen, Hunter, and Cameron Summey with long-time girlfriend Lillianne Trussell, and her granddaughter, Kristen Summey, were the lights of her life. The joy of her later years was further amplified by the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Eli Elcome, Gage Summey and Lennon Summey. Sandy's love extended beyond her family to her dearest friend, Sheila Gillespie, who was more like a sister to her, and to the countless friends and family members whose lives she touched.

Sandy's passion for life was evident in everything she did. Her interests were as diverse and vibrant as her personality. Music was the soundtrack to her life, and she found solace in the rhythm of the waves at the beach. She was an excellent cook, known for her ability to create a sense of community and connection through her food. Sandy's heart was always open to those in need, and she found great fulfillment in helping others.

A true free spirit, she loved the roar of a Harley Davidson and the serenity of the mountains. Her love for photography captured the beauty of the world around her and the smiles of the people she loved. Sandy's favorite pastime was indulging in seafood while watching a good movie, a simple pleasure that brought her immense happiness.

Courageous, selfless, and passionate—these words only begin to describe Sandy. She faced life's challenges with unwavering bravery and always with a concern for others before herself. Her selflessness knew no bounds, and her passion for life inspired all who knew her.

Sandy Medford was a phenomenal mother, grandmother, and friend whose legacy will continue to shine brightly in the memories of those she loved.
