Samuel Stephen Sellers Sr., aged 67, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Samuel’s warmth, wisdom, and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Born on March 10, 1957, in Spartanburg, South Carolina to the late John Powell Sellers and Nelle Wheatly. He graduated from Dorman High School. A tireless worker and professional musician, he dedicated many years to a fulfilling career in the entertainment industry and small engine repair. Late in life he continued to work at the Sellers family fish market, earning the respect and admiration of his family members.
Samuel was not defined solely by his work. He was a man of deep faith, a mentor to many, and a pillar in his community. He found joy in fishing and playing music, and he cherished time spent with his family and friends. His laughter and stories were the heart of family gatherings, and his love and support were constants in the lives of those he held dear.
He is survived by his life partner of five years, Teri Gregory; his children, Joseph and Samantha Carter, Jessica and TA Eplee, including Samuel Stephen Sellers Jr and his wife Brandy Sellers.; his grandchildren, Emily Carter, Dylan Garret, Christopher Pace, Brayden Pace, Carter Gregory, and including Samuel Stephen Sellers III; his siblings, Sandra, Mike, and Lori Sellers; two special nieces Dawn Sellers Shores(Ricky) and Deeanna Sellers Kent and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan Lavender Sellers of 38 years and his siblings Johnny, Bill, Tommy, Pete, Jinxie, and Debbie Lynn Sellers.
Samuel's legacy is one of love, resilience, and service to others. His presence in the lives of those who knew him will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
A celebration of Samuel’s life will be held at a later date.
May he rest in peace and continue to inspire us with the profound impact he made in his 67 remarkable years.
