Samantha Jeane Russell Donnelly, 32, passed from this life on Monday, August 7, 2017. Samantha was born on July 18, 1985 in Silver Spring, Maryland to her parents, Kathryn Mae Russell and Timothy Edward Russell.
Samantha is survived by her father and mother, Timothy and Kathryn Russell of Mauldin, South Carolina; her brother James Russell of Mauldin, South Carolina; and daughter Cadence Donnelly of Mauldin, South Carolina.
Sam was a free spirit who loved animals and she never met a stray dog that she didn’t love immediately. Throughout her life, she raised dogs, chickens, ducks and horses. She even saved the occasional barn mouse. Sam was an accomplish horseman and she rode and trained horses all through her life.
Sam loved her daughter with all her heart and soul. She shared her love of the outdoors with Cadence any time she could. Cadence has many fond memories of frolicking in a mountain stream with her mommy and all of her dogs. Sam and Cadence loved to create art together and would spend many hours crafting their own works of art. Cadences best memory of her mommy is the time they spent creating landyards, necklaces and braclets together.
Sam served in the US Army, where she trained as a helicopter mechanic and she was very proud of her service to her country.
A service will be held at the M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 12th friends and family. Interment of Sam’s remains will take place on the following Monday, with only immediate family in attendance.
The family will receive guests at their home immediately following the service at 421 Bishop Drive Mauldin, SC. In lieu of flowers please donate to Wounded Warrior.
