Ruth Janet Kymer, known affectionately as Ruth, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023, in Greenville, SC. Born on December 22, 1953, in Easton, PA, Ruth was a beacon of selflessness, interest, and love throughout her 69 years of life.
Ruth was a dedicated and accomplished nurse, beginning her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1978. She later returned to school while single-handedly raising her two children, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1992. Her commitment to her profession was a testament to her selfless nature, always putting the needs of others before her own. Ruth's interesting life and loving heart were evident in her work, as she provided care and comfort to countless patients throughout her career.
Ruth's love extended beyond her human family and patients to her beloved animals. She had a particular fondness for her dogs, Chortle and Baby Girl, who brought her immense joy and companionship. Her home was a haven for all creatures, reflecting her nurturing spirit and boundless love.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Katherine "Kat" Kymer, and her son, James "Buddha" Kymer. She was a cherished grandmother to Jayla (Corey King) Hendrix, Tyra Williams, Ty Keria Wardlaw, and Jorden Hendrix. Ruth's family was the center of her world, and she instilled in them her values of kindness, resilience, and love.
In addition to her immediate family, Ruth leaves behind very special friends, Randy Aisha "Dank" Barber, Odell "Turtle Food" Booker, and Deidre Ivey. Their friendships were a source of strength and joy for Ruth, and they will remember her fondly for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering support.
Ruth's life was a testament to the power of love and selflessness. She touched the lives of many, both through her professional work as a nurse and her personal relationships. Her interesting life experiences, coupled with her loving nature, made her a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
