Ruth Chandler, age 68, passed away peacefully at home, Sunday July 30, 2017 surrounded by her three daughters. Born in Cullen, Virginia, Ruth was a long time resident of Travelers Rest, SC. She was a extremely hard worker, retiring from a lengthy serivce at JP Stevens in Slater, SC. Ruth was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley, watching Perry Mason and Criminal Minds, as well as cooking. Ruth spent her retirement planning and preparing delicious meals for her family. She loved McDonalds coffee, Hershey Bars, and cheeseburgers from Petes and bacon-especially bacon! Ruth spent most of her living days with her loyal puppy Chloe and her trusty iPad. She also had many slumber parties with Mackenzie and Makayla which involved watching Netflix and ordering Chinese food. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Bertie Dockery-Chandler and Wallace Chandler; siblings: Bob, John and Jack Chandler, Bernice Cole and Dorothy (Dot) Oates. She was also predeceased by a son-in-law John Strange. She is a great grandmother of infant Lorelei Rae Staton who passed away in February of 2017. Ruth is survived by her brother, Steve Chandler of Marietta, SC. Ruth leaves behind three daughters: Dawn Ford (Donald), Elizabeth Bourquin (Paul), and Angela Strange (Ed). She will be deeply missed and well remembered by her grandchildren: Jessica Bailey (Jason), Teresa Ford Staton (Scott), Daniel Bourquin, Michael Bourquin (Nicole), Jonathan Strange (Krystal) and Rose Ouzts (James). Ruth dedicated the past sixteen years to passionately caring for "her babies". Grandma Ruth's babies are her four living great grandchildren: Mackenzie, Makayla and Jackson Bailey and Scott (Scotty) Staton, Jr. Ruth was such a selfless and compassionate great grandmother. She showed this by verbally expressing that she was spending her final days babysitting and playing with her angel by, Lorelei Rae Staton. Ruth was the best grandmother ever. Graveside to be held Friday August, 11th 2017 at 2:00 pm at Mountainview Memorial Gardens Travelers Rest, SC. The family is at their respective homes.
