RUBYE LILES BENCHOFF
Rubye Liles Benchoff, 98, widow of Rev. William Henry Benchoff, passed away at her home in Greenville, SC, August 17, 2016 following a lengthy illness.
Born in Flowery Branch, GA on May 28, 1918, she was the daughter of James Barney and Mamie Roach Liles.
Mrs. Benchoff attended Columbia Bible College and Columbia Theological Seminary. She served alongside her husband as a missionary to Brazil before pastoring churches in Marshall, TX and Roebuck, SC. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Greenville.
She is preceded in death by sons, Bill and Richard Benchoff and daughter, Janet Benchoff Choate. Survivors include her son and his wife, James and Harriet Benchoff, of Greenville, 6 grandchildren: Gene Choate, Chehalis, WA; Susan (John) Clarke, Wilson, NC; Kim (Billy) Hart, Hazen Ogden (Marfa Alvarez), Gainesville, FL; Connie (Clark) Gladden, High Springs, FL; Wes Ogden (Tyler Kilpatrick),Asheville, NC; 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25 at 4:00 pm at Second Presbyterian Church 105 River Street, Greenville, SC. with Dr. Richard Phillips officiating.
