OLSON, Rosenia Ann nee Buckley, 76, of Mauldin, SC, passed away suddenly July 11, 2017. Beloved wife of David Lee Olson, devoted mother of Pamela Sue (Richard) Driggers of Mauldin, SC, James Allen (Vicki) Olson of Amelia, OH, and Glen David (Paige) Olson of Loveland, OH. Dear Grandmother of Emma and Sarah Driggers of Mauldin, SC, Katie and David Olson, of Loveland, OH, and Haley Olson of Amelia, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and MeldaBuckley, brothers John Herman (Junior) Buckley, Fred Allen “Pow-Wow” Buckley, Samuel “Hoppy” Buckley, and Billy Joe Buckley, and sister Pauline E. Tucker. She is survived by brother Carl (Jeanie) Buckley of Greenville, Rhode Island, Robert (Sally) of Dublin, OH, sister Goldie Sue Farley of Dunbar, WV, sisters-in-law Toshiko Buckley of TwentyninePalms, CA, Jeanie Winfree Buckley of Glasgow, WV, Francine Buckley of Seattle, WA, Donna Olson of Alum Creek, WV, brother-in-law Jackie Olson of Sumter, SC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families, whom she adored.
Rosenia was very active in all stages of her life. As a teen, she was involved in 4-H and roller derby. When Dave was transferred to Cincinnati as a result of his employment with McLean Trucking, Rosenia socialized with the other drivers’wives and their families. Later as a parent she enjoyed serving as a Campfire Girls leader, president of the Bevis Elementary PTA, Den Mother for Cub Scouts packs, and room mother & field trip chaperone for many classrooms while her children were in elementary school. She was also involved in her churchwhile living in Cincinnati, Pleasant Run First Baptist Church, as a vacation bible school teacher and in various adult and senior groups at the church. She particularly enjoyed attending Kings Island, Riverbend Music Center, Hueston Woods State Park, and Sunlite Pool with her children and friends. Later in life, she enjoyed attending the sporting events, concerts, recitals, and other activities of her grandchildren, as well as sitting in the garage and greeting her many neighbors as they walked through the neighborhood, especially Rick and Carolyn Muller, who were of great assistance to Rosenia and Dave over the past several years.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 AM Friday, July 14, 2017 at Cremation Society of South Carolina-Westville Funerals. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dementia Society of America PO Box 600 Doylestown, PA 18901 or online dementiasociety.org/donate in memory of Rosenia.
