Ronnie Joe Holder

March 2, 1960 — November 27, 2023

Ronnie Joe Holder, affectionately known as Joe to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023, in his hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. Born on March 2, 1960, to Ruth and Dreyfus Holder, Joe's life was a testament to the love and laughter he shared so generously with everyone around him.

Joe was a Greenville native through and through, spending his entire life in the city that he loved. After completing his education up to the 10th grade, Joe dedicated himself to the trade of roofing. His hardworking nature and skillful hands were well-known in the community, where he was not only a roofer but also a friend to many. A member of a close-knit family, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Jo Holder, his parents, and his siblings, Dale and Billy Holder and sister Gaynell Nicholson.

Joe's legacy continues through his cherished daughter, Gwynna Faye Lewallen, and her husband Jeffrey, as well as his daughter Kimberly Dawn Holder and her partner Isaias. His brothers, JR and Larry Holder, remember him as a pillar of strength and camaraderie. Joe's life was enriched by his lifelong best friend, Wayne Bagwell, with whom he shared countless memories and adventures.

A loving "Pa Pa" to six grandchildren, Joe's eyes would light up with joy whenever they were around. His love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and he earned his title of the "most Amazing Pa Pa" through his endless affection, playful spirit, and the wisdom he imparted.

Joe was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, often found by the water's edge with a fishing rod in hand, patiently waiting for the next big catch. Playing pool was another of Joe's favorite pastimes, where his friendly nature made him a favorite opponent and companion at the pool hall. A devoted fan of Clemson, Joe's passion for his team was unwavering, and he could often be found cheering them on, decked out in their colors.

Those who knew Joe will remember him as a loving, funny, and friendly man. His laughter was infectious, his jokes always timely, and his presence could light up a room. Joe had the rare gift of making those around him feel at ease, and his warm, welcoming spirit will be sorely missed.

As we bid farewell to Ronnie Joe Holder, we celebrate a life lived with joy, generosity, and a heart full of love. He was a man who knew the value of friendship, the warmth of family, and the simple joys that make life beautiful. We take comfort in the knowledge that his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and that his spirit will continue to inspire us to cherish the moments we have with one another.

Joe's passing marks the end of an era for those who loved him, but his stories, his laughter, and his love will continue to echo in the lives he touched. We honor his memory by reflecting on the happiness he brought into our lives and the lessons of kindness and friendship he embodied.

As Joe reunites with his loved ones who have passed before him, we imagine them all sharing a fishing tale or two, playing a friendly game of pool, and watching over us with the same love and tenderness that Joe showed each of us every day. Rest in peace, Ronnie Joe Holder. Your memory will forever be a beacon of love and laughter for all who were fortunate enough to know you.
