Mr. Ronald Harry Baxter was born November, 30 1947, in New York City, the son of the late Harry and Leona Baxter. His walk came to an end on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in Fountain Inn, South Carolina while surrounded by family.

Ronald, affectionately called “Ron” and “Pop”, was educated in the public schools of New York, where he graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School (Bronx, NY). He went on to attend Benedict College (Columbia, SC) with an athletic scholarship for Basketball. Ron received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Benedict College in 1972.

Ron began his career as a trainer and consultant at the Urban League (Columbia, SC). Later, a manager at Unisys Corporation (Seacaucus, NJ) where, during his 20 year tenure, had an opportunity to travel the world. Ron went on to retire as Sr Distribution Manager from Sony Music Entertainment Inc (Pitman, NJ). 

Ron was a member of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania Free and Accepted Masons. At the Christian Lodge No. 12, he held the position of Treasurer for many, many years. He also belonged to William Cooper No. 6, Hold Royal Arch Mason and The United Supreme Council as a Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret at DeMolay Consistory No. 1. He believed in Brotherhood and was a mentor for the newer members of the fraternal organization.

Along with his love of family, Ron also enjoyed sports (especially Basketball), teaching the art of Chess, tending to his home aquariums and growing houseplants. He spent his retirement years enjoying time on Lake Murray with long fishing trips.

In addition to his parents Ronald was preceded in death by his son, Shawn L. Adams. He leaves to cherish his everlasting memory; his children: Ronald Baxter, Jr (Josetra) (Columbia, SC), Michelle Baxter-Bennon (Adrian) (Fountain Inn, SC). One sister, Joyce Baxter (Bakersfield, Ca).

Five Grandchildren: Shawn, Anaya, Jacob, Leah-Grace and Briea, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many great friends that will miss him dearly.
