Roland was a self-made man, who took pride in his work. He was self-employed, providing roofing and siding services to the Greenville community. In addition to his own business, Roland also worked at Southern Weaving and WR Grace, where his hard work and dedication were highly valued. He was a man who believed in the dignity of labor and the importance of providing for his family.
In his leisure time, Roland had a passion for woodworking, fishing, and collecting old coins and antiques. His love for these hobbies was a testament to his appreciation for craftsmanship and history. He had a keen eye for detail and a deep respect for the past, qualities that were reflected in his extensive and cherished collections. His love for fishing spoke volumes about his patience and his appreciation for the tranquility of nature.
Roland was a devoted family man, who is survived by his son, Josh, and daughter, Keyly Franklin. He was a doting grandfather to Chloe Hooper and Jaxon Franklin and a proud great-grandfather to Addison Hooper. His siblings, Belinda Gambrell (James), Barry Hooper (Janis), and Scott Hooper, along with many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and his beloved fur baby, Rocky, will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roland and Ruth Powell, and Frank and Anna Hooper.
Roland was a man who was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His generosity knew no bounds, and his friendly nature made him a beloved figure in his community. He had a heart full of love for his family and friends, and he never missed an opportunity to express it.
