Roger Palmer Johnson, 80, of Taylors, SC, died Friday, April 21, 2017 in his home. He was born April 8, 1937 to Richard and Katie (Palmer) Johnson in Duluth, Minnesota where he was a lifelong resident until his retirement in 1997. Roger attended school in Duluth, worked many years as a driver for Transport, INC and retired after 24 years of service for the Duluth Transit Authority. Roger served in the Minnesota Army National Guard and was a proud 38 year member of International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local #346.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents John and Jennie Palmer, his paternal grandparents Eric and Susan Johnson, brothers Roy, Lawrence, Richard Jr, James, Gordon and Herbert, and sisters June and Elsie. He is survived by his wife Cynthia (Ochs) of Taylors, SC, son David (Ann Sorenson) of Kings Mountain NC, daughter Lorie (Norman) Bowlby of Cramerton, NC, 4 step children Vicky, DeeAnn, Shelly & Lauren, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. At Rogers’s request, there will be no services.
