Rodger grew up in the warm embrace of Greenville, where he was raised by his late parents, Hilda T. York and Emory C. York. He was a cherished brother to his late sister, Linda Reed. Rodger's formative years were spent in the company of his close-knit family, and he carried the values of love and kinship throughout his life.
After completing high school, Rodger answered the call of duty and served his country with honor as a Navy veteran. His time in the Navy not only instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie but also deepened his love for the great outdoors. Following his service, Rodger turned his passion for nature into a career as a hunting and fishing guide. He was a true outdoorsman at heart, and his expertise and enthusiasm for outdoor sports were unmatched.
