Dr. Robert J. Torello, PhD, economist, statistician, trumpet player, jazz aficionado, and lifelong New York Yankee’s fan, passed away peacefully after a long illness. He was 84 years old.
He is survived by his two daughters, Stacie Wilk Swanger of Greenville, SC, and Amy Torello Wittwer, of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; sons-in-law David Swanger and Daniel Wittwer; step-granddaughter Abigail Swanger; and his favorite trombone player, grandson Cameron Wilk. He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends through the end, and is now reunited with his beloved Penny.
The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Greenville Hospital System Cancer Institute, the staff at Rolling Green Village, and the congregation of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, all of whom surrounded him with love during the last year of his life. And, to one very special person in particular, whose devotion to our Dad never waivered – you know who you are, and you will forever hold a place in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dr. Torello’s honor to Rolling Green Village’s Healthcare Unit and Lutheran Hospice.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 2-4 pm at 106 Wycliffe Drive in Greer.
